I Double Dog Dare Ya

Nick, my 16-year old, had an assignment for Creative Writing class tonight. He needed to write something like a poem, and the first and last sentence had to be identical, but with completely different meanings.

He had a couple ideas, but wanted my input. Off the top of my head, here’s what I came up with:

I am a gladiator.

I am strong.

Yet my dog Deacon saved us.

When momma T-Rex charged our family,

I am a gladiator.

While I enjoyed it, Nick and his mother were less impressed, and eventually “double-dog-dared” me to post it on my blog. My apologies to the rest of you, but obviously, I had to post it.

I’m pretty sure that’s not what Nick’s teacher had in mind. Hopefully, he’ll come up with something better on is own. If not, we’ll have an extra mouth to feed for years to come, and I’ll really need all of you to buy my book when I publish this summer…  (OP 4/29/2014)
